A four-season treehouse where ski days end in a cedar hot tub among the hemlocks

This 300-square-foot treehouse sits supported by four living trees, three hemlocks and one maple, with branches growing right through the decks. The main level holds a well-stocked kitchen, a full bathroom with rain shower, and a cozy nook with swivel chairs, a record player with classic vinyl, and a basket of games. A ship's ladder leads to the master loft, perched over 30 feet high in the canopy, where eight windows surround a queen bed, perfect for watching snow fall or autumn leaves drift past. A second loft, accessed by a wall-mounted ladder, offers a convertible couch for additional guests. The space is compact and open, with sleeping areas visible to one another, designed for couples or small families comfortable with closeness. Outside, three decks wrap around the trees. The lower deck holds a cedar hot tub and ski bar. The rear deck, the largest, has a hammock, outdoor seating, and a bistro table for two, with another tree growing through the boards.

The treehouse sits on a quiet private road in Woodstock, Maine, with no neighbors in sight. It abuts 626 acres of Bucks Ledge Community Forest, with seven miles of hiking and snowshoeing trails accessible directly from the property. Sunday River Ski Resort is 15 minutes away, Mt. Abram just 5 minutes, and downtown Bethel 10 minutes. North Pond lies 500 feet away, close enough to hear loons calling, with a kayak put-in spot a half-mile down the road.

Winter stays tend to center on the rhythm of ski days and slow evenings. The hot tub becomes the natural endpoint, steam rising into cold air after runs at Sunday River or Mt. Abram. In warmer months, the forest trails start at your door, and a tandem kayak is provided for exploring North Pond. Evenings might mean cooking dinner in the small kitchen, flipping through records, or settling into the hammock to watch the sun drop behind the trees. On windy days, the treehouse moves gently with its supporting trees, a reminder that you're genuinely suspended in the canopy. There's no TV here, just good cell reception, fast WiFi, and the kind of quiet that makes conversation easier or silence feel perfectly fine.
