Our Story

The Best Retreat started with our own cabin.

In 2021, we built Retreat at Fall Branch Falls from the ground up. Becoming hosts ourselves taught us more than any guide or platform ever could — what actually matters to guests, what elevates a stay, and how much thought it takes to create a truly great retreat experience.

After sharing our cabin online, it unexpectedly went viral. That opened the door to something we didn't plan for but couldn't ignore: over the next few years, we visited, photographed, and created videos for dozens of other cabins and retreats. We spent time in these places, talked with their owners, and saw firsthand how much care and intention goes into the best ones.

We also saw the problem.

So many incredible retreats were getting lost. On major booking platforms, thoughtful design and great experiences were buried under volume, algorithms, and endless scrolling. As hosts, we experienced this ourselves — despite investing heavily in our guest experience, there was little recognition or meaningful way to stand out.

It became clear there was a gap.

The Best Retreat is our attempt to fill it.

We created a place where genuinely great retreats can be properly featured and easily discovered — regardless of where they're booked. A catalog built around standards that reflect what we've learned as hosts, guests, and visitors: design matters, accuracy matters, and the overall experience matters.
